I was at the Institute of Physics last night for the launch of Jean Boultons new book. Jean shared her four questions for working with change:
1) What is interwoven? What matters?
2) How will I recognise the stable patterns? (they exist in all systems - the universe, organisations, families, culture etc)
3) How can I comprehend those small emerging patterns of change? (the unravelling)
4) What's the method for tracking and understanding the dynamics of change?
Other insights:
*In a system, things emerge, sustain and dissolve.
*At the end of the meeting ask 'Is there anything interesting happening?' which helps us to spot emergence.
*Rigidity collapses the system.
